Building a fairer society and tackling inequalities
The growth in inequalities affects all of our lives, but disproportionately impacts the lives of those who are already vulnerable or in greatest need.
Whilst there is no singular answer to this challenge, we are working with partners to understand and address inequality, and improve outcomes, wherever we can.
Over two decades our work across both health and local government has highlighted the importance of not only recognising the wider determinants of health, wellbeing and economic success, but taking practical action to address these.
From housing to education, “people-powered” approaches to whole-system change, we work with statutory and voluntary & community sector partners and communities themselves to understand how often small investments and changes can unlock better prospects for all.
A central aspect of this work has been demonstrating through bringing together evidence and data with individual experiences the cost of inequalities, to individuals and families, but also to society as a whole; and “what works” in terms of working with people themselves to remove barriers and promote equality.
In addition to our project work in this area, we support communities through both our volunteering and direct investment via our social impact fund.
