James is a senior consultant with significant experience in supporting developments in systems and services, including managing complex and sensitive engagement and consultations.
A focus of James’ work has been enabling better care at home and in community settings. He has supported virtual wards implementation and evaluation in multiple ICSs. He has worked with clients to design models for discharge that harness Transfer of Care Hubs to support faster, more effective discharges from hospital. James also has significant experience in managing consultation response analysis and has a strong knowledge of legal and best practice requirements around consultation. This has include producing best-practice guidance for clients and working alongside Social Finance to support Bristol Council with their consultation on delivering best value in relation to children with SEND.
Prior to joining PPL, James worked at fellow consultancy Traverse, with health and social care clients including HEE, NHSE, DHSC, CQC and the NMC to ensure their decision making was insight-led and well information. James led on a range of projects around workforce transformation and health and care integration. He also has a strong background in strategy development, leading the work of Traverse’s Employee Shared Ownership Trust (ESOT) as Chair, and being seconded to NHS Test & Trace to support their strategy and policy teams during the second and third national lockdowns.
James holds a first class degree in History from Durham University.
